You have probably seen those '5 challenges' style apps floating around on Google Play and the App Store. They are basically themed quiz or puzzle games built around a specific movie or show. Stranger Things 5 Challenges by MVH Entertainment Team is exactly that. It is a fan-made trivia game, so it is not an official Netflix product. After downloading and launching it, the first impression is pretty straightforward. The interface is simple, maybe a bit too simple. It feels a little rough around the edges, but for a free download with no forced registration, it does not ask for much upfront. There are some ads, which you expect from a free app, but they did not pop up every ten seconds, so I was not immediately annoyed.

Once you get past the title screen, you are dropped into the main menu where the challenges are laid out. The core action is reading a question and picking an answer from a few options. The questions cover all four seasons, from the Demogorgon to Vecna. Getting one right feels good, but the real thing that keeps you tapping is the score system. It tracks your speed and accuracy, so you can try to beat your own time. However, the app could use a smoother onboarding. The buttons look a bit dated, and the font choices make everything feel less polished than the actual show. I found that tapping carefully is important, because the touch response is sometimes a little off, and you might accidentally select the wrong answer. A practical tip for daily use is to play in short bursts, like waiting for coffee or riding the bus, since a full session only takes about ten minutes.

After spending some time with it, my honest feeling is that it serves a very specific purpose. If you are a huge fan of the show and you have run out of official content to consume, this is a fun little brain tickler. It gives you that quick hit of Stranger Things nostalgia without needing a subscription. But if you are looking for something with high production value, this is not it. It does not compare to a fully polished puzzle game like Monument Valley in terms of design, but among fan-made trivia apps, it has a decent variety of questions. You might keep it installed if you want to challenge a friend to beat your high score, but I can see people uninstalling it after a week because the content is limited and there is no new story to follow. It is a time killer, not a keepsake.

features

  • 🤔 The quiz system is the main draw here. It includes over 100 questions pulled from all four seasons of the show. Unlike some other trivia apps, like Jeopardy! World Tour, which uses a broad range of topics, this one stays laser-focused on Hawkins lore. The standout feature is that the questions are not all easy. They throw in some deep cuts about minor characters, which real fans will appreciate.
  • 🎯 There is a scoring mechanic that rewards both speed and accuracy. You earn more points for quick answers, which adds a layer of pressure. This is different from a typical quiz app like Quizoid, which just tracks right and wrong answers. It really makes you feel the tension, like you are running from the Mind Flayer.
  • ⭐ The app groups questions into themed sets. You can pick a challenge named after an episode or a character. This makes it easy to jump into a category you know best, rather than facing a random mix every time. It is a small but useful organizational touch.

pros

  • 👍 The app is completely free to download and play. There are no hidden paywalls. Many quiz apps, like QuizUp, push for subscriptions after a few rounds. Here, you just deal with the occasional ad, which is a fair trade.
  • 👍 It covers all four seasons without any spoiler warnings, which is actually a strength for long-time fans. You get a full retrospective. Apps like Stranger Things Trivia often only cover the first season, so this feels more complete.
  • 👍 The questions are written by someone who clearly watches the show. They reference specific scenes and dialogues. It feels less like a generic database and more like a true fan project.

cons

  • 👎 The UI and graphics are really dated. The app looks like it was built five years ago. Compared to polished trivia games like Trivia Crack, the visual experience feels cheap and cluttered. It can be a turn-off for people who care about design.
  • 👎 There is no multiplayer mode. You can only compare high scores. For a game called 'Challenges', it is odd that you cannot face a friend in real-time. Most similar apps offer a head-to-head option.
  • 👎 The sound design is almost non-existent. There is some basic music on the menu, but no sound effects for correct or wrong answers. It makes the gameplay feel hollow. Apps like SongPop use audio to engage users, and this app misses that mark completely.
