I came across FestAI recently, which is a ghost detector app from Now Tech. It's one of those playful paranormal tools you find in the entertainment section on both Google Play and the App Store. The idea is to use your phone's sensors to simulate finding spirits or ghosts around you, more as a party trick or a fun gag than anything serious. After downloading and installing it, the first impression is actually pretty polished for this type of app. The opening screen has a dark, moody theme with a radar-like interface that immediately makes you feel like you're in a ghost hunting show. It's free to download, though there are some in-app purchases and ads that pop up now and then. You don't even need to register, which is nice since you can just launch it and start messing around right away.

When you actually use FestAI, the experience is pretty straightforward. You hold up your phone, and the app uses the camera and motion sensors to create this radar that detects "ghosts" nearby. The interface is clean enough, with a simple radar screen and a few buttons for different modes. Onboarding is quick; there's a short tutorial that shows you how to point your phone around and wait for something to appear. In daily use, you just launch it, wave your phone around your room, and wait for the app to alert you when it finds something. Sometimes it feels smooth, but other times the detection can be a bit jumpy or laggy, which breaks the illusion a little. A practical tip is to move your phone slowly, as fast movements seem to confuse the sensor readings. The common steps are basically opening the app, choosing a mode like "Spirit Radar" or "EVP Recorder," and then following the on-screen prompts to interact with the fake spirits.

After using it for a while, I think FestAI is best for people who enjoy a good laugh or want to prank friends at a sleepover or party. It's not for anyone looking for a serious ghost hunting tool, obviously. What sets it apart from similar apps like Ghost Radar or Spirit Detector is the slightly better graphics and the smoother animations, but the core experience is pretty much the same. The ads can be annoying after a few minutes, especially when they interrupt the "ghost detection" moment. I might keep it installed for the occasional laugh, but I can also see myself uninstalling it pretty quickly after the novelty wears off. It's fun for about ten minutes, then you realize it's just random sensor noise dressed up with cool visuals. Compared to something like Phasmophobia on PC, this doesn't have any real depth, but for a quick mobile gag, it does the job.

features

  • 😈 FestAI uses your phone's sensors to create a simulated paranormal experience, while apps like Ghost Radar use a simpler random number generator to fake results. FestAI feels more interactive because it responds to your movements.
  • 😈 The standout feature is the AR overlay that places ghostly images in your camera view, which is much more immersive than Spirit Detector's basic text alerts. It actually makes you feel like you're seeing something.
  • 😈 It includes multiple detection modes like spirit radar and EVP recorder, which gives it more variety compared to Ghost Hunter M2, which only offers a single radar view. You can switch between them to keep the fun going.

pros

  • 🌟 The visuals and animations are much cleaner than most free ghost detector apps, making it look like a high-quality game instead of a cheap prank tool.
  • 🌟 It doesn't require any sign-up or personal data, so you can just open it and start using it immediately. Many similar apps push you to create accounts first.
  • 🌟 The app is lightweight and runs smoothly on older phones, unlike Ghost Detector Pro which tends to lag on devices with less RAM.

cons

  • ⚠️ The ads are frequent and often pop up right when you're in the middle of a ghost detection, which kills the immersion completely. Other apps like Ghost Radar have fewer interruptions.
  • ⚠️ The sensor calibration can be inconsistent; sometimes it detects multiple ghosts in an empty room, other times nothing happens even when you move your phone around a lot. Spirit Detector is more reliable in this sense.
  • ⚠️ There's no real gameplay or progression system, so after a few uses, the experience feels repetitive. Phasmophobia on PC has actual objectives and variety that FestAI lacks entirely.
  • ⚠️ The in-app purchases are overpriced for what you get, like unlocking a new ghost skin for several dollars, which feels like a cash grab compared to free alternative apps.
