Face Mashup Challenge is a casual puzzle game from developer GjangHa that you can grab for free on both Google Play and the App Store. Basically, you get a split face — the top half is someone famous or a character, and the bottom half is something totally random, like an animal or a cartoon. Your job is to mash these mismatched halves together to create the funniest or most accurate composite face. I stumbled across it one night when I was bored and scrolling through the store; the install count is decent for a niche game, and there is no forced registration, just a quick download and launch. First impression? The menu looks a bit cluttered, but the concept hooked me immediately because it is so straightforward and goofy.

Once you get into it, the interface is pretty basic — you tap the top half, swipe through a gallery of bottom halves, and then lock in your choice. The onboarding shows you a few examples, then throws you into rounds where you need to match the right halves within a time limit. I found myself laughing at some of the ridiculous combos, like pairing a stern politician's eyes with a puppy's nose. A smooth moment is how quickly you can restart a level, but a confusing one is that occasionally the halves do not align perfectly, and the app just counts it as wrong without explaining why. A practical tip: focus on the eyes first since most comparisons hinge on that area. I also noticed tiny ads pop up after every three rounds, which is annoying but bearable for a free game.

After spending a couple of days with it, I can say Face Mashup Challenge is perfect for killing five minutes on the bus or when you want a brainless laugh. It is not for someone who wants deep mechanics or a long campaign — this is pure, silly fun. Compared to other face-mixing apps like Face Swap Live, this one is less about real-time filters and more about visual puzzles. What keeps me from uninstalling is the sheer weirdness of the combinations; they genuinely surprise me sometimes. But the lack of updates or new content might make me ditch it after a week. It is a solid time-waster for anyone who loves memes or slapstick humor, but do not expect it to hold your attention for long.

features

  • 🧩 The core mechanic is a split-face puzzle where you match top and bottom halves from different categories — celebrities, animals, cartoons, objects. Unlike similar games like Face Swap, this one focuses on accuracy and humor rather than just swapping faces.
  • ⚡ Time pressure adds a twist: you have only a few seconds per round, which keeps the pace fast and feels like a quick mini-game session. Apps like Morfo don't have that rush, so this stands out when you want short bursts.
  • 🎨 The variety in face parts is surprising — there are hundreds of combos, and each round gives you a new set, so it does not get repetitive fast. Compared to FaceMix, which has fewer assets, this app has more depth in its library.
  • 🕹️ A standout feature is the ability to share your creations directly to social media with a single tap, which makes it easy to show off your funniest mashups without extra editing — something FaceApp lacks in its free version.

pros

  • 😄 It is completely free with no paywall for core features — unlike Face Swap Live which locks good assets behind a subscription, this lets you play all rounds without spending a penny.
  • 😄 The learning curve is zero: you open, you play, you laugh. No tutorials or complex menus, which beats apps like Morfo where you have to tinker with settings for ages.
  • 😄 The ads are minimal and only appear between rounds, so they do not interrupt gameplay heavily, unlike some other free puzzle games that spam you every move.

cons

  • 😕 The interface feels outdated and cluttered — buttons are tiny, and the text is hard to read on smaller screens, which is less polished than Face Swap Live's clean design.
  • 😕 There is no online multiplayer or leaderboard, so once you finish the single-player rounds, there is little reason to come back, unlike FaceMix which has daily challenges.
  • 😕 The matching logic is sometimes inconsistent: the app can reject a correct pair for no clear reason, making you redo levels, which feels frustrating compared to more accurate games like Morfo.
  • 😕 No new content updates have been released recently, so the asset pool stays the same — this makes it less replayable than FaceApp which adds seasonal packs regularly.
