You know how some apps try to do way too much? Fingerprint Scanner Personalit from Zabirko is the exact opposite – it is a no-nonsense tool that does one thing: it uses your phone's existing fingerprint sensor to act as a basic security lock for other apps. There is no complicated set up, no account to register, and it runs entirely offline. When you first install it from Google Play, the interface feels almost too simple. It greets you with a clean, dark screen and immediately asks you to set a backup PIN, which is smart because fingerprint readers can fail. There are no ads bombarding you during setup, which is a nice surprise for a free app. It downloads quickly, takes up almost no space, and within two minutes you are already locking things down.

Using this app is surprisingly straightforward. You open it, and the main screen shows a list of your installed apps with a simple toggle switch next to each one. Tap the switch for, say, WhatsApp or your gallery, and the next time you open that app, the phone's fingerprint prompt pops up. If your finger is wet or the sensor glitches, the backup PIN works just fine. I tested it on a few different apps, and it locked them instantly without any lag. One small annoyance: you have to manually grant the app "Usage Access" permission for it to detect when apps are opened. The app does guide you to the settings page, but it is still an extra step that might confuse someone who is not used to digging through Android permissions. Also, it does not lock system settings or the home screen, so if you hand your phone to someone, they can still see your notifications unless you lock those individually.

After using this app for a few days, I can see why someone would keep it installed. It is perfect for people who want a quick privacy layer without the bloat of a full-featured security suite. Unlike something like AppLock or Norton App Lock, which try to throw in fake call features, photo vaults, and themes, this one stays focused. But it is also limited. It does not support face unlock or pattern unlock beyond the backup PIN, and it cannot hide apps from the drawer – it only locks them. If you are a heavy Android user who already uses the built-in "Secure Folder" or "Work Profile" features, this app might feel redundant. Still, for a free, lightweight tool that actually respects your privacy (no internet permission needed), it does its job without getting in your way. I kept it installed because it just works.

features

  • 🔒 Lock Apps Instantly: This app lets you lock individual apps using your phone's built-in fingerprint sensor. Unlike something like AppLock, which forces you into a separate lock screen interface, Fingerprint Scanner Personalit keeps things native. You just tap the toggle, and the next time you open an app, your phone's normal fingerprint prompt appears. No extra steps, no flashy animations.
  • ⚙️ Fully Offline, No Tracking: The app has zero need for internet access. That is a big win compared to many lock apps that constantly ping servers for ads or analytics. Norton App Lock requires account syncs and cloud backups, but this one keeps all your lock data stored locally on the device. For privacy-conscious users, that alone is a standout feature.
  • 🔐 Backup PIN Support: Fingerprint sensors are not perfect. If your finger is wet, dirty, or the sensor just fails, the app gives you a simple numeric backup PIN. AppLock also has this, but it tends to revert to its own full-screen PIN pad that looks out of place. This app just pops a small keypad right on top of the locked app, keeping the experience consistent.
  • 🪶 Lightweight and No Ads: The app is tiny in size and runs without any intrusive ads. Many free lock apps like Smart AppLock show full-screen video ads every time you unlock an app, which defeats the purpose of quick access. This one stays out of your way entirely.

pros

  • 🌱 Simplicity Over Bloat: Unlike AppLock which tries to be a photo vault, app hider, and theme store, Fingerprint Scanner Personalit only locks apps. This means less battery drain and fewer permissions requested. It feels refreshingly focused.
  • 🛡️ True Local Privacy: Many similar apps from the Play Store, even popular ones, quietly request internet access for ads or "feature updates." This app does not request internet at all, which means your lock patterns or fingerprints cannot be sent anywhere.
  • 🔋 Negligible Resource Use: Apps like Norton App Lock can eat up background RAM because they run a persistent service. This app only activates when you actually open a locked app, so it does not slow down your phone or drain the battery during idle time.

cons

  • 📵 No Hide Apps Feature: Unlike AppLock or Hide Calculator, this app cannot hide app icons from the app drawer. It only locks them. If someone is snooping through your phone, they will still see the app icon and know something is locked.
  • ⚙️ Manual Permissions Required: To detect which app you are opening, it needs "Usage Access" permission, which you have to manually enable in system settings. Norton App Lock sets this up automatically during installation, making it friendlier for less tech-savvy users.
  • 🚫 No Smart Lock Features: You cannot set trusted locations or trusted devices to bypass the lock. AppLock has a "Trusted Places" feature that lets you skip authentication at home. This app locks every single time, which can become tedious.
  • 🖼️ Basic Visual Design: The interface is purely functional with minimal styling. Compared to the polished look of AppLock with themes and custom wallpapers, this app feels more like an early Android tool than a modern app.
