I've been playing Grill Sort - Food Sort Games on Android for the past few weeks, and I gotta say, it's a solid time-waster if you're into sorting puzzles. It's a casual food-themed sorting game, and it's currently available on Google Play and the App Store. From what I remember, it launched sometime in 2023, and it's racked up over 100,000 installs on Google Play alone. The game is free to download and play, but yeah, there's in-app purchases for power-ups and ad removal, usually costing around $1.99 to $4.99. There's also those optional in-app ads that pop up between levels unless you pay to remove them, but they're not too intrusive. I haven't seen it on Steam or consoles like Xbox or Switch, so it's pure mobile for now. I downloaded it from Google Play, and the install process was quick, no issues there. It's a straightforward app that doesn't need much from your phone.
How you play Grill Sort is pretty simple: you're given a grid with different food items like burgers, hot dogs, fries, and tacos, and you gotta sort them into their correct slots. The best part for me is the satisfying click-and-drag mechanic, and how the levels ramp up in difficulty without feeling impossible. My favorite part is when you finally crack a tricky level after a few tries, and the foods all line up perfectly. It's all about matching colors and shapes, which sounds dumb, but it's actually kinda addictive. The game throws in new food items every few levels, so it stays fresh. I've spent hours on this app, just casually sorting while watching TV, and it never feels like a grind. The controls on Android are smooth too, no lag or weird glitches when you download and install it.
Compared to other sorting games like Sort It Out or Food Sort Match, Grill Sort stands out because of the food theme and the variety of puzzles. I've played those others, and they tend to get repetitive with the same objects over and over. Grill Sort mixes it up with different foods that actually look appetizing, which is a nice touch for a casual game. Also, the difficulty curve is better here; some games just throw you into impossible levels too early, but Grill Sort eases you in. If you're looking for a chill game to kill time on Google Play, this is a good pick. It's not groundbreaking, but it's a solid app that does what it says. I'd recommend it over the others cause it's more polished and the food graphics are cute.
features
- Food Sorting Mechanics 🍔: Unlike generic sorting games that use random shapes, Grill Sort uses actual food items like burgers and fries, which makes the puzzles more intuitive and fun to play on Android.
- Progressive Difficulty 📈: The game starts easy but adds new foods and complex grids as you go, keeping the challenge balanced, unlike some apps that spike too fast.
- Casual Pick-up-and-Play 🎮: Perfect for short sessions on Google Play, no commitment needed, and the controls on mobile are responsive and smooth.
pros
- Visually Appealing Art Style 🎨: The food graphics are colorful and well-designed, making the sorting process more enjoyable than in games like Sort It Out, where everything looks generic.
- Smooth Performance on Android 📱: I've played this app on a few devices, and it runs without crashes or lag, which is rare for casual games on Google Play.
- No Pay-to-Win Pressure 💰: The in-app purchases are optional, and you can beat all levels without spending a dime, unlike some games that block progress behind paywalls.
cons
- Limited Content After a While 🔄: After you beat the initial levels, it gets repetitive, and there aren't as many unique puzzles as in games like Food Sort Match, which has more variety.
- Annoying Ads Before Levels 📺: While you can remove them with a purchase, the constant video ads can break the flow, and similar apps on Android often have less intrusive ad options.
- No Online Multiplayer 🌐: There's no competitive mode or leaderboards, so if you like comparing scores with friends, games like Sort It Out offer that, while Grill Sort is purely solo.
